End machining centre

The specialists in single-sided or simultaneous parallel end machining

In addition to travelling column and gantry machining centres, end machining centres also form part of the AXA portfolio.

End machining centres are specialised machine tools designed for machining the end faces of shafts, axles, tubes, bars, solid materials, or profiles. They are particularly used after cutting to length—such as by sawing—to produce precise and clean end surfaces required for subsequent manufacturing steps. Various operations, including facing, centring, drilling, tapping, deburring, and chamfering, can be carried out sequentially with one or multiple spindles.

The horizontal arrangement of the spindle allows gravity to assist chip evacuation, improving tool life and process reliability. In addition to single-sided machining, simultaneous machining of both ends of a workpiece is also possible.

End machining is a highly efficient method for the precise, rapid, and cost-effective production of components, particularly in series manufacturing. By securely clamping the workpieces and ensuring highly accurate spindle positioning, tight tolerances can be consistently maintained in serial production. This guarantees a high level of dimensional accuracy and repeatability. It is ideal for components such as drive shafts or axles that are required in large quantities with high precision. Furthermore, these machines and processes are relatively easy to automate, which also contributes to increased efficiency.
